Believe in the Power of the Universe

the last few days were lovely except that i got a cold.

the business admin at pku does a terrible job at making things convenient and easy for their students. i guess we really ought to appreciate what Stern has to offer us. don’t think i’ve ever said ”i miss nyu, i wish i were at stern” so much.

this apartment gives me a true sense of belonging here in beijing. though it would be much better to live downtown with the price i’m paying now. transportation can become such a hassle.

so far classes at pku kind of worked out alright. i’m hoping to get fm and fsa approved so i will not have to go thru the troubles that those classes usually bring to students.

sucks i have to go to different bookstores now to get copies of the pku textbooks because they’re out! and won’t be in the bookstores for awhile. where do they THINK i can find it omg?

YALE boy. sigh

people can get hurt by the littlest things.
three words, two sentences, one gesture.

we don’t want to look back again, yet we still do because we cared so much.
so much that we can’t accept any changes, nor any newcomers.

it’s so hard for me to absorb the present that often people catch me in lost stares these past few days.

intro to social psych taught me one thing last thursday,
that in your life, there are four kinds of people:

1% are people who will bring wealth to you.
5% are people who can be your left and rights.
80% are people who will get work done for and with you.
14% are disastrous people.

right now some of my 86% are moving into those 14%. That’s what’s been so upsetting.

When life is full of choices, possibilities, and plenty of unknowns.

The NYU in Shanghai kids came over to Beijing today. Shiyee picked THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG’S for all of us and his uncle treated us three bottles of MOETS. huge bottles.

I’m moving into another apartment tomorrow closer to campus and some major shopping malls. Instead of saving money due to the exchange rate and living standards, I am now officially spending more money in China than I do at both London and New York. Life is definitely better here cuz there are my Chinese buddies EVERYWHERE. But with money you can always live the same kind of life style, that’s all up to ourselves right?

This will take me awhile to type.
Not that it’s going to be long, but since i did my nails, they are so long now that i can’t really type write. nor text message, not even picking up coins on the street or ones fallen from my own wallet.

I’ve now officially arrived my city for the next four or more months. It’s big but not THAT big. The layout of the subway system is much like the tube in London. I’ve so far passed the Tiananmen Square several times, a place that does not bring me much happy memories. (Not because of the location, but of the time it reminds me of when I last visited. Anyways, everyone said Wudaokou is the place to party around PKU, but i couldn’t find those clubs at all! Do they pop up at night or what?

After asking around, I am semi-confirmed of living on the PKU campus. They have so few spots and thanks to Daddy’s friends, I can probably get a single. These buildings are only three-story high, like the ones we would see in Chinese movies. They were built in the 50s so there are no hot water running still and there is a communal toilet for all girls within the buildings. Not that many people in the building anyways. And in order to shower, I have to go to the communal bath outside of my dorm. Oh i’m in love with that building. It’s soo hard to find places like these now. But now since there’s no openings there yet, I’ll have to live at my current apartment that’s 20 RMB by taxi far from campus. It’s got a TV, nice balcony, kitchen, bathroom and all. Very cute. I’ll be sure to upload pics later on when I finally settle in 😀

There’s a swimming pool very close to my future dorm, and a tennis/badminton/basketball/volleyball court and other gyms around. Yeah Helene’s gonna get really athletic lol.

😀 I already don’t want to think about leaving here.
but I do still miss you guys~
